India's 2025 Asia Cup Team Unveiled

The Indian cricket team for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 has been officially announced, led by Ajit Agarkar. The 15-member squad sees the return of several players, while others have faced disappointment. Shubman Gill makes a comeback as the vice-captain in T20 format, and wicketkeeper-batsman Jitesh Sharma is also back in the fold. However, notable absentees include star players like Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, and KL Rahul.

Both KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer had impressive performances in IPL 2025, with Iyer scoring over 600 runs and Rahul also contributing significantly, including a century. Yashasvi Jaiswal was expected to make the cut after his rapid scoring, but all three players were left out, much to their surprise. Additionally, Mohammed Siraj, who excelled in the series against England, was not selected for the T20 team.

In a notable development, Shubman Gill, who scored 650 runs in IPL 2025, has been appointed as the vice-captain, indicating his secure spot in the playing eleven. Jitesh Sharma, who emerged as a finisher in IPL 2025, has also been included in the 15-member squad for the Asia Cup.

Considering the conditions for the Asia Cup, the squad comprises five all-rounders and three fast bowlers, along with a strong presence of spinners.
