Alarming Case of Assault in Mayurbhanj
Baripada: In a distressing incident, a 10-year-old tribal girl was reportedly raped by a 20-year-old man from her community in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, as confirmed by local police on Tuesday.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) lodged by the victim's family, the assault occurred when the girl stepped outside her home in the Jashipur police jurisdiction to relieve herself on Monday.
Authorities have initiated a case at the Jashipur police station and apprehended the suspect, as stated by Jaylalita Swain, the officer in charge of the station.
This incident follows closely on the heels of another alarming case from August 2, where a young man was arrested for allegedly attempting to rape his girlfriend with the involvement of his friends in the same district.
In that earlier case, a 17-year-old girl was lured into a nearby forest under false pretenses while returning home from her tuition classes, where the accused and his four accomplices participated in the crime.
