Andrea Berta has been handed what could prove to be a major boost to Arsenal's chances of signing Rodrygo from Real Madrid in the latter stages of the summer transfer window. The 24-year-old is expected to be allowed to leave the Spanish capital over the coming weeks, with Xabi Alonso favouring other attacking options during the Club World Cup, although he has been named in their La Liga squad to meet Osasuna.

Alongside the Gunners, Liverpool and Manchester City have been linked with a move for Rodrygo. The latter joining Pep Guardiola's team became a real possibility when Tottenham made a move for Savinho earlier this month. Having set their asking price at £70million, City would have plenty of funds to sign a replacement if that exit was green-lit with Rodrygo emerging as their top contender.

However, according to Spanish journalist Guillem Balague, Guardiola has since closed the doors on Savinho joining Spurs, and with that decision also, seemingly, ruling out Rodrygo moving to Etihad Stadium. He has since provided a detailed update on what could now happen to the Real winger with Arsenal potentially as the team to benefit.

"Now City have decided to keep Savinho, the option of Rodrygo going to City is over," he explained. "Rodrygo has not told Real Madrid he wants to leave There has been zero offers for him at his point.

"Real Madrid is asking for €100m but closer to the end of the market, they would accept less (€60-70m? ) but as it stands nobody expects him to leave Real doubt Rodrygo would accept an offer from Newcastle - if it ever arrives. Real insist Arsenal have not made an approach at this point."

Rodrygo's potential £51.9million valuation during the final week of the summer transfer window could prove ideal for Arsenal. Having invested heavily in six new signings, departures remain the main focus for Arteta, with Reiss Nelson, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Leandro Trossard and Fabio Vieira amongst those who could leave.

Stuttgart are showing concrete interest in Vieira, with the Bundesliga outfit prepared to take him on loan, potentially including a £17million purchase option should specific criteria be fulfilled.

Zinchenko continues to attract interest from Turkish giants Fenerbahce, whilst Trossard's prospects of potentially moving to Aston Villa have improved following Leon Bailey's temporary switch to AS Roma. Nelson, meanwhile, could be heading back to Fulham for another loan stint.
