NPCI announced the shutdown of this system

NPCI has announced the closure of Peer-to-Pier (P2P) Collect request for common users on UPI since October 1, 2025. NPCI has decided to stop this service to prevent online fraud. Peer-to-Pier (P2P) Collect request will no longer be able to send a request to any person to ask for money from another person. This decision of NPCI is a milestone towards making UPI more safe.

What is this facility?

P2P Collect request or ‘Bridge Transaction’ is a feature in which a UPI user sends requests to ask for money from another user. On receiving a request, the person paying the money approves payment through his UPI PIN. For example, if you want to take 500 rupees from a friend, you will send a request through the UPI app and as soon as he approves by putting a pin, the money will be transferred to your account. The fraudsters took advantage of this facility and made people a victim of cheating.

Fake fraudsters would call the lottery, cashback or job and say that money is coming to your account. They would send UPI request and as soon as the person put his pin, the money would be transferred to their account.
