Punjabi Families in America: In 1974, Dr. Surinder Gupta along with his wife Shashi and newborn son Shaminder went to New Orleans in the US. At the new place, he was keeping pace in his life, when his life took an important turn on a cold night. A phone call gave him a lifetime friend.

Lost car, found family

One night the child Shaminder had a high fever. The family ran towards the drugstore. When they returned, their car had been taken and taken away. There was no money for the taxi. There was no friend to help in unknown city. In such a situation, Surinder Gupta opened the phone book and started calling on the well-known Punjabi surname.

Sukhdev Walia was the first to answer. He knew that Surinder is a stranger, but he understood his compulsion. Despite being late at night, Walia Gupta went to the car to help the family. He was taken home and later withdrawn his car.

Relationships strengthened in new country
