
Government of India-owned telecom company BSNL on Friday soft-launched its 4G mobile network in the capital, Delhi. The company said that this service has been started under the '4G-as-a-Service' model, in which radio coverage will be provided till the last stage through partner networks.
According to the company, this initiative will provide immediate high-speed data and better voice calling facility to new customers of the capital on supported 4G devices. Customers can get a SIM and e-KYC done from BSNL and MTNL customer service centers or authorized retailers.
The 4G project started last year
BSNL started 4G network rollout across the country last year with an investment of Rs 25,000 crore. Under this, 1 lakh mobile towers have been installed. For this project, a consortium led by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and C-DOT got a major share of telecom equipment supply.
New investment of Rs 47,000 crore
The company is planning to invest an additional Rs 47,000 crore in the coming time to further strengthen its telecom network. This is expected to provide better network coverage and faster internet speed to the customers.
