White House on Trump India tariff: America is continuously giving different arguments to impose tariffs on India. In this episode, the press secretary of the White House Caroline Levitt said that President Donald Trump has imposed this tariff on India with the intention of ending the Russia-Ukraine war. According to him, Trump wants the ongoing struggle between the two countries to end soon.

The US had earlier imposed 25% tariff on goods coming from India. But a few days later it was increased by 25%. In this way, a total of 50% tariffs have been imposed on India in total.

Trump took several steps towards ending the war

Press Secretary Caroline Lewitt said that the President has put tremendous pressure on different fronts to prevent the Russia-Ukraine struggle. It also includes other strict decisions including additional tariffs imposed on India. Lewitt said that Trump’s priority has always been to put an end to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

Lewitt said that Donald Trump’s efforts towards establishing peace between Russia and Ukraine had the effect that European leaders reached the White House just 48 hours after his meeting with Putin. During this, the President met all European leaders and discussed the peace agreement. He said that European leaders also appreciated Trump’s initiative.

China has no punishment for buying Russian oil

Meanwhile, US Finance Minister Scott Besant said in a statement to CNBC that China did not get any punishment for purchasing Russian oil, but the case with India is different. According to him, India is earning “huge profits” by rebuying cheap oil purchased from Russia. He alleged that earlier India’s dependence on Russian oil was very low, less than 1% of the total imports but now it has reached 42%. Besant says that India has gained an additional benefit of about $ 16 billion from this process, which he described as “completely unacceptable”.

Let us know that on Tuesday, US President Donald Trump met Ukraine President Volodimir Jailonsky at the White House. During this, Trump expressed his desire to have a tripartite talks with Russian President Putin. After the meeting, Trump described it as a “very successful day”, while Jailonsky called it his “best conversation” with Trump.
