For those looking at Apple tablets and squinting at the price, that's very understandable, but Huawei has just launched a tablet alternative that might take shoppers' fancy. The budget Huawei MatePad released a couple of days ago and comes with 2.5k resolution and 120hz display.
These are specs that many high-end tablets like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 only have. It has a 10,100mAh battery that will last for 14 hours. For a limited time, Huawei is offering £50 off the tablet and a free M-Pencil, which is perfect for artists.
Huawei will even offer 12-month screen protection in case something goes wrong and it breaks-completely free. When compared to the Apple iPad, it has a slightly bigger screen, better brightness, and a bigger battery with a free stylus -and it costs the exact same thanks to Huawei's £50 off deal.
Huawei also claims that the MatePad can replace laptops with its "PC Level Experience" and the ability to attach a keyboard, meaning it can be used for work, college, and university. The only issue is that the keyboard will cost extra to buy.
For those in the market for a new tablet, there are plenty of other budget options. Amazon is selling this 11-inch iPad for £309.98, with the speedy and reliable A16 chip included. There's also the super budget Samsung Galaxy A9 tablet for a little over £140.
The Huawei MatePad is recommended to shoppers on the lookout for an everyday, small, tablet. Whether it's to stream series on or draw on the go. As Expert Reviews stated in their review.
The tech site tried the Huawei MatePad and said it was perfect for artists with a gorgeous screen. They said: "There's very little to dislike about the Huawei MatePad 11.5 (2025). It's slim, lightweight and sturdy, has a solid PaperMatte display and punchy quad-speakers, and is available with one of the best native sketching apps on the market."
However, one big negative is that the Huawei MatePad doesn't come with Google apps and isn't that amazing for gaming. Not the tablet to buy if you plan on regularly using it for demanding 3D gaming."
