The Asia Cup 2025 is more than just a cricket tournament as it carries the significance of history, politics, and emotions, particularly with the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan clash on September 19 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
There has been considerable buzz surrounding this fixture, with Wasim Akram sharing his perspective on the matter. Following the Pahalgam terrorist attack earlier this year, numerous Indian politicians and former cricketers wants the BCCI to boycott the matches against Pakistan.
The BCCI has stayed silent, hinting that the India vs Pakistan match will take place as planned in Dubai on September 19. Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has now reacted to the matter.
He mentioned that Pakistan is ready for any decision India takes, and that political issues will not influence their position. He made it clear that Pakistan wouldn’t be disturbed if India decided not to play against them in the Asia Cup 2025.
“The schedule for the Asia Cup has been revealed. We’ll see how things unfold. There might be some backlash, but in Pakistan, we’re okay. We’re actually calm about it,” Wasim Akram said.
The legendary fast bowler also expressed his hope to witness a Test series between India and Pakistan Test series.
“I hope to see a Test series between India and Pakistan in my lifetime. But I think the Indians might have a different perspective on it.”
Wasim Akram, wrapped up his statement by saying, “In my view, leaving politics aside, we’re not politicians, I’m not a politician. They are patriotic about their country, and we are patriotic about ours.”
