He said that the credibility of India’s democratic politics rests on a strong platform of the Parliament where members can express the complaints and aspirations of people representing independent and impartially. Constitutional amendments to weaken the basic values of parliamentary democracy and federalism are being included in the deception at the end of the session, which saves no scope for meaningful debate or investigation. Now, these new bills are going to be weapons in the hands of the ruling party to more weak and unstable democratically elected governments in these states. In Parliament, we have seen the growing trend to suppress the voices of the opposition.

NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar said that the unity of the opposition is very important in this Vice Presidential election. Kharge ji Sudarshan Reddy was consulted with all the parties before choosing a candidate. After extensive deliberations, we decided to field only one candidate. This will make the people of India realize the unity of the opposition.

CPI (M) MP John Britas said that this is an ideological war, in a period when democracy is a huge threat from those who have to protect it, when our beloved institutions are surrounded. There is an urgent need for clarity and rationality, this is the candidature of Justice Sudarshan Reddy. We have seen how this government has treated the second biggest position? AAP leader Sanjay Singh said that AAP supports the candidature of B Sudarshan Reddy for the post of Vice President. When we are deciding the candidates for the post of Vice President, a bill is being passed in Parliament, which provides for defections, demolition of governments, sending chief ministers and opposition leaders to jail, it is unfortunate. I was suspended for 11 months, we protested, so we want a person like B Sudarshan Reddy as Vice President who lets us speak, do not suspend us.
