Parts of the UAE, including Abu Dhabi and Dubai, saw heavy rains on Wednesday, August 20, as videos circulated on social media showing cars splashing through waterlogged roads.
Abu Dhabi Police issued a warning to motorists in the Al Ain region, urging them to be cautious on the road and stick to speed limit restrictions. People have also been warned not to venture into valley areas, as these prove to be especially dangerous during times of heavy rain.
Dubai's Road and Transport Authority (RTA) put out a reminder for road users to remain safe while driving, and to follow RTA's safety tips.
The National Centre of Meteorology in the UAE has issued orange and yellow alerts as the unstable weather continues. As seen in the map below, the alert covers parts of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and some northern emirates as well.
