UPI Transactions: AU Small Finance Bank has launched the UPI service for NRI customers without an Indian SIM card. Now NRE and NRO account holders living in Australia, Canada, USA, UK, Singapore and other 12 countries can connect to UPI with their international mobile numbers. Through this, they will be able to make bill payments, money transfers and merchant payments in India in real-time. This initiative will make digital banking safe, seamless and more convenient for NRIs.

UPI Transactions: India's largest small finance bank AU Small Finance Bank (AU SFB) has taken an important initiative and launched Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services for its Non-Resident External (NRE) and Non-Resident Ordinary (NRO) account holders. This service will now be available through international mobile numbers. This initiative is in line with the recent directives from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) allowing linking of international mobile numbers with UPI.

Benefits of UPI without an Indian SIM card

Now, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) will not need an Indian SIM card to use UPI. Customers residing in 12 countries like Australia, Canada, France, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, UAE, UK and USA will be able to link their NRE/NRO accounts with UPI directly from their international mobile numbers, allowing them to easily make bill payments, money transfers and merchant purchases in India in real-time.

Secure and seamless digital banking experience

This new service from AU SFB is not only secure but also extremely easy to use. Eligible NRI customers can register on the UPI platform with their international mobile numbers without any additional charges and without an Indian mobile connection. This will make the digital banking experience more seamless and enable NRIs to stay financially connected to India.

Benefits for NRIs

The biggest benefit of this facility is that now NRIs will not need to carry cash when they come to India. They will be able to make cashless payments by easily scanning the QR code. Apart from this, they will be able to settle their family or business transactions in India from abroad as well, fast and securely. This facility will prove to be a boon for millions of NRIs who make continuous financial transactions with India.

Bank's commitment and vision

Uttam Tibrewal, ED and Deputy CEO, AU Small Finance Bank, said, "By enabling UPI for NRE and NRO account holders with international mobile numbers, we are eliminating traditional boundaries and giving NRIs the power to stay financially connected to India, that too with ease, security and convenience. Now NRIs will be able to make cashless payments by scanning the QR code when they come to India." He also said that this initiative will not only simplify digital banking for the Indian diaspora community, but will also strengthen the Digital India mission of the Government of India.

Digital banking will get a boost

This initiative of AU Small Finance Bank brings the Indian diaspora closer to India by allowing them to use UPI without an Indian SIM card. This step will boost the possibilities of digital banking globally and will further strengthen the Indian economy.
