Ajinkya Rahane Makes Big Career Announcement, Says ‘I’ve Decided Not To Continue In.’

Ajinkya Rahane has officially stepped down as the captain of Mumbai Domestic Cricket Team. The 37-year old batter made the announcement on social media mentioning that it was the right time for him to let a new leader take over.
Rahane made it clear that he has no plans to retire and will be continue to represent Mumbai in all the domestic formats. He announced the decision on X and wrote: "Captaining and winning championships with the Mumbai team has been an absolute honour." "With a new domestic season ahead, I believe it's the right time to groom a new leader, and hence I've decided not to continue in the captaincy role. I remain fully committed to giving my best as a player and will continue my journey with @MumbaiCricAssoc to help us win more trophies. Looking forward to the season." The 37-year old batter has been phenomenal in leading Mumbai towards success, he has been the pillar of strength since very long time. Currently, Rahane sits at the second spot in the list of all-time run-getters for Mumbai, he is just behind Wasim Jaffer. Till now, Rahane has scored 5932 runs in 76 matches with an average of 52, this includes 19 centuries. Even though Rahane has stepped away from captaincy he will still continue has a batter in the Mumbai team. The team will now go through transition and Rahane's sole focus will be on contribution with the bat and helping new captain to take the charge.
