Material :

  • Moong Dal- 1 cup
  • Ginger- 1 inch piece
  • Green Chilli- 1-2
  • Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
  • Cumin- ½ tsp
  • Salt- as per taste
  • Oil- to cook cheela
  • Finely chopped onion, coriander, tomatoes

Method :

  • First of all, wash the moong dal thoroughly with water 2-3 times, so that there is no dirt.
  • Remove the washed lentils in a bowl and put water in it and soak it overnight.
  • Now put this soaked lentils in the mixi jar. Add ginger, green chillies, turmeric powder, cumin and salt to it.
  • Grind a smooth and thick batter by adding some water. Keep in mind that the batter should not be too thin, nor too thick.
  • Now take out the ground batter in a bowl. If you have taken vegetables like onion, green coriander, then mix them now.
  • Leave the batter like this for 5-10 minutes. This gives lentils and tastes well.
  • If the batter looks too thick, then mix a little water and fix it.
  • Keep a non-stick griddle or pan to heat on medium heat.
  • When the griddle is hot, apply some oil or sprinkle it. Run the batter well with the help of a splash so that it becomes the same again.
  • Put a little batter in the middle of the pan and spread it in a circular with a light hand. Do not spread it too thick, the thin cheela becomes more crisp and tasty.
  • Put a little oil on the sides of the cheela.
  • Keep the heat medium and allow the cheela to roast for about 2 minutes, until the bottom is golden brown.
  • Now turn the cheela and roast from the other side, for about 1-2 minutes.
  • When it becomes golden from both sides, take it off the pan.
  • Serve hot moong dal chila with any favorite chutney or sauce.
