After the recent order of the Supreme Court on dogs, Dog Lovers has suffered a shock once again. The Supreme Court refused to hear immediately on the petition filed by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) against the notification of raising unclaimed dogs. A bench of Justice JK Maheshwari and Justice Vijay Bishnoi, listening to the mention of the matter, said that they would not hear immediately. It was alleged in the petition that MCD issued a notification despite the order being reserved by the apex court.

On August 14, the Supreme Court had reserved the order on the interim application to ban the instructions of August 11. During that time, the court had commented that the problem of stray dogs in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) has increased due to the inaction of local authorities.

A bench of three judges Justice Vikram Nath, Justice Sandeep Mehta and Justice NV Anjaria reserved their order in the case. Earlier, on August 11, a two-member bench of Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice R. Mahadevan had directed Delhi-NCR officials to start the process of removing stray dogs from all areas as soon as possible and transfer them to dog shelter sites.

The bench had instructed the officials to immediately make a shelter site for dogs and submit a report on the construction of such infrastructure within 8 weeks. The court had clarified that stray dogs would be kept in these shelter sites and would not be left in roads, colonies or public places. In fact, on August 11, the apex court took cognizance of the cases of stray dog bites in the national capital on August 11. The court, especially considering the increasing rabies infection in children as a matter of serious concern, issued several important instructions during the hearing started on 28 July.
