Microsoft Gaza Conflict: The echo of the ongoing struggle in Gaza has now reached America. This week Microsoft Employees performed vigorously outside the headquarters. Employees made a clear demand from the company that it should immediately end its technical relations with the Israeli army.
Employees’ objections and charges
According to media reports, the British newspaper The Guardian claimed that Israeli Army is using Microsoft’s agreed cloud platform to monitor the phone calls of Gaza and Palestinians at West Bank. This revelation spread outrage among the employees.
Microsoft’s answer and assurance of investigation
Microsoft issued a statement on Friday, saying that given the seriousness of the case, it has appointed a law firm named Covington and Burling for investigation. The company also clarified that the terms of their services do not allow such use and the case is “immediately and complete investigation.”
Not just investigations, concrete action should be taken
However, the employees say that it is not enough to be investigated just. The protesting groups have constantly pressurized that the company stops providing technical assistance to Israel, as this technique is being used to further inciting Gaza war.
New claims of media reports
In February, an international news agency reported that there was a deep relationship between Microsoft and Israeli Ministry. The report also said that after the Hamas attack in October 2023, the Israeli army increased the use of AI technology by 200 times.
In addition, the report claimed that the Israeli Army uses Microsoft Edor for espionage, translation and data processing and then connects it to the AI -based target system.
The company’s previous statements and controversies
It is worth noting that earlier Microsoft had said that no evidence was found in his investigation to prove that Azor or AI was used to harm Gaza. However, the company did not clarify who investigated and why its report was not made public.
Amid this dispute, the company recently fired three employees from the job. These included an employee who stopped the speech of CEO Satya Nadella in the middle. Now the big question is whether Microsoft will fulfill his moral responsibility or will continue the disputed partnership for profits.
