Kejriwal's Support for Justice Reddy

On Thursday, Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), met with former Supreme Court Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy at his residence in Delhi. Kejriwal expressed his commitment to helping Reddy secure victory in the upcoming high-profile election for the Vice Presidency. Accompanying him were Congress MPs Pramod Tiwari and Syed Nasir Hussain, along with Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee, who took a photo with Reddy. This meeting comes as Reddy prepares to contest against the ruling NDA's candidate, C.P. Radhakrishnan, as the opposition nominee. Notably, this encounter follows a few months after AAP's exit from the grand alliance.

This meeting occurred just two days after AAP officially announced its support for Reddy. Speaking to reporters afterward, Kejriwal stated that Justice Reddy, the opposition's candidate for Vice President, has AAP's backing. He mentioned that they discussed the current state of the nation and that leaders from other opposition parties also attended. They deliberated on electoral strategies, emphasizing their efforts to ensure Reddy's victory. Kejriwal highlighted that the election is conducted through secret ballot, with no party whip involved, urging all parties to recognize Reddy's impressive career as a judge. He asserted that Reddy's fearless decisions would enhance the dignity of the position, making him a worthy candidate for the country.

Justice Reddy also expressed his gratitude to Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP for their support. He noted that Kejriwal had sent Sanjay Singh to endorse his candidacy during the nomination process, for which he was thankful. Reddy stated that he came to express his appreciation for their backing. The India Block officially declared Reddy as their candidate for the Vice Presidential election scheduled for September 9. In making this announcement, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge emphasized that the upcoming election represents an ideological battle.
