The problem of oily skin (oily skin) and pimples (acne) is becoming common in today’s time, especially among the youth and urban lifestyle. The use of strong sunlight, pollution, hormonal changes and wrong skincare products further increases this problem. However, experts believe that oily skin can be controlled by adopting the right skin care routine and the problem of pimples can be relieved.
What is oily skin and why?
Cybesius glands (oil glands) present in the skin start making excessive sebum (oil), the skin becomes sticky. This excess oil closes the pores, causing problems of pimples, blackheads and whiteheads.
There can be many reasons behind this:
Hormonal changes
Inappropriate food
Tension
Use of more skin products
Hereditary trend
Expert Care Routine for Oily and Pimple-Pon Skin
Skin expert Dr. Richa Aggarwal explains, “Oily and acne skin needs not more skin products, but the right routine. Simplicity and regularity are the mantra of skin care.”
Know here his suggested Daily Skincare Routine:
1. Clinging (twice a day)
Clean the face twice a day with gentle, sulfate-free and oil-control face wash. It is very important to wash the face before waking up in the morning and before sleeping at night. Fachawash containing salicylic acid or tea tree oil is helpful in controlling acne.
2. Toning (balance the skin)
Use toner after clining. Alcohol-free toner maintains the pH level of the skin and tightens the pores. Natural toners such as rose water or witch hazel are better options.
3. Moisturizing (Hydration is necessary)
Even if the skin is oily, it is necessary to use moisturizer. Oil-free, non-comedogenic (which does not close the pores) use gel-based moisturizer.
4. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen
Select matte finish or gel-based sunscreen for oily skin. SPF 30 or more sunscreen protects the skin from sunlight and also protects from dark spots.
5. Exfoliation twice a week
Use mild scrub or chemical exfoliates (eg bha), so that the dead skin be removed and the pores are clean. Avoid more scrubbing as it can increase the skin swelling and pimples.
6. Apply spot treatment at night
Wherever there are pimples, apply a cream or gel containing salicylic acid or benzoyal peroxide. It reduces inflammation and kills bacteria.
Some additional suggestions
Avoid oily food and maintain hydration (8–10 glasses of water a day).
Change the cover of the pillow every 2-3 days.
Use non-comedogenic products only while doing makeup.
Do not wipe the face repeatedly with face wipes or tissue paper, it can increase pimples.
Manage stress – Yoga and meditation are beneficial.
