
India East Coast Gateway: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday directed the officials to prepare a detailed plan to make the state a major logistics hub of India. The Chief Minister said that the ports of Andhra Pradesh have been allowed for many areas of Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Odisha. The objective of this scheme is to make cargo transport smooth and sharp from these states.
The government has devised a strategy to expand a new port or existing port every 50 km, developing a 1,053 km long coastline.
Investment of Rs 9,000 crore
Naidu was sharing these things during the signature ceremony between the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board and the Assistant Unit of a global port engineering company. Under this scheme, they will be modernized with an investment of about Rs 9,000 crore in Ramayapatnam, Fishpatnam and Mulpeta ports.
About 10,000 people direct employment
The company will install state -of -the -art terminal and cargo handling systems at these ports, which will greatly improve logistics and transport processes. Around 10,000 people are expected to get direct employment in the initial phase of the project, while its indirect effect can provide employment opportunities to thousands of more people.
The state government aims to develop Andhra Pradesh as India’s East Coast Gateway, and with this ambitious plan, this goal is now moving even more stable and strong. The project will not only promote economic development, but will also make the state a major center for international trade and investment.
Benefits of domestic cargo transport
Chief Minister Naidu insisted on ensuring that the services of the company benefits not only international but also domestic cargo transport. He also suggested that strong economic structure be developed around the ports.
Chief Minister Naidu said that the state aims to convert Andhra Pradesh into a future-oriented economy through world heritage, port and logistics. He requested the company to provide support in preparing plans for cargo transport through rail, road, inland waterways and air routes. On this occasion, Minister B.C. Janardhana Reddy, Maryitimes Board chief Damachala Satya, Secretary of the Department of Industries, Senior Officers and Representatives of the company were present.
