Vivek Agnihotri found himself in a pool of trouble when the trailer of his upcoming film The Bengal Files showed a kid named Taimur. In a recent interview on The Raunac Show he said that no one should name their child Taimur. Amid Agnihotris remark fans started to speculate that the filmmaker was taking a jibe at Bollywoods adored couple – Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan – as their eldest son’s name is also Taimur. Now clarifying his words Agnihotri said that he did not take a dig at the B-town couple’s child. But did you know that back in 2024 Kareena in an interview revealed why she named her son Taimur? Kareena Kapoor Reveals Reason for Naming Her Son Taimur In an interview with The Indian Express Kareena revealed that the name was chosen by her husband Saif Ali Khan. She said Obviously this name was chosen by my husband Saif. Saif loves history. He likes to read about brave warriors. I think he is a fan of Mongol Taimur. She further added When we came up with the name… Saif actually said… He grew up with a neighbour friend and he always really liked his name and his name was Taimur. So he said ‘You know if I have a son he was my first friend. I’d like to name him Taimur’ and that’s exactly how Taimur was named because he was Saif’s first friend when he was living in town here. Saif Ali Khan’s Reason for Naming His Son Taimur In another interview Saif also opened up about why he chose the name Taimur for his son. He said that the meaning of the name is “iron” or “steel” which represents strength and this was one of the biggest reasons behind naming his son Taimur. Saif further said The Mongol ruler was Timur my sons name is Taimur. It sounds similar but both the meanings are different. I have named my son after a person named Taimur who lived in my neighbourhood. Saif and Kareena’s Wedding Coming to Kareena and Saifs wedding the two got married on October 16 2012 in Mumbai India after a five-year relationship. Their wedding included a registered marriage at Saifs residence followed by a reception at the Taj Mahal Hotel.
