Blast in lpg tanker: A major accident took place in Punjab late Friday. A tanker filled with LPG was uncontrolled and overturned near village Mandiala located on Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar road at around 10:30 pm. The accident occurred after an unknown vehicle collision. As soon as the tanker overturned, there was a loud explosion and the gas filled in it started seeping fast. On seeing this, the gas engulfed the entire village and the fire erupted around.

2 people died

Two people died in this accident, while about 100 people were scorched. A gas plant is also available just 500 meters from the scene, but it was a matter of honor that the leak did not reach there, otherwise the damage could have been even more frightening.

The police-administration came into action as soon as the incident was reported. Traffic of the area was immediately stopped and efforts were started to deliver people to safe places. People affected by the fire in the village were taken out of the houses and immediately sent to the hospital. At the same time, several fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and an attempt was made to extinguish the fire after hours of hard work.

The entire village changed in fire shells

Eyewitness Gurmukh Singh said that the accident happened so suddenly that people could not understand anything. As soon as the tanker overturned, a loud sound like a blast was heard, due to which people first thought that there was a bomb blast. But shortly after, when the gas engulfed the entire village and a fire broke out from the burning houses, the entire village turned into a fireball.

Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the administration closed the Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar National Highway. Relief and rescue operations are going on on the spot. Scorched people are being admitted to the nearest government hospital, where the condition of many is said to be critical.

Panic

This incident has spread panic in the entire region. People are in an atmosphere of fear in the village Mandiala and the surrounding areas. Local people say that if the gas leak reached the gas plant, the devastation could have been even bigger. At present, the administration is keeping an eye on the situation and the cause of the accident is being investigated.
