Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to sign Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton, with the midfielder said to be attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in world football. The 21-year-old has excelled for the Eagles since moving to south London and was in action for his team once again on Thursday evening as Palace defeated Fredrikstad 1-0 in the UEFA Conference League play-offs.
Wharton joined Palace from Blackburn in February 2024 after starring in the Championship. He has gone on to make 46 appearances for the Eagles and helped them win silverware for the first time ever last season as the team defeated Manchester City in the FA Cup final. It now appears his current employers will struggle to hold onto him, with the club already set to lose Eberechi Eze to Arsenal while facing a battle to keep Marc Guehi.
Spanish publication AS have reported on the interest around Wharton and have named Liverpool as one of the clubs interested in signing him.
The reigning Premier League champions have enjoyed a fecund summer transfer window and have already landed the likes of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Giovanni Leoni.
But Liverpool may be dragged into a transfer battle with Manchester City and Manchester United, with the Red Devils said to be dreaming of signing the talented star.

Wharton appeared to make his feelings perfectly clear over a move to United or one of his other potential suitors during a Crystal Palace training session on Wednesday.
As Sky Sports cameras were rolling, reporter Gary Cotterill joked that they wouldn't be focusing on Wharton's future on this occasion,
And after hearing the quip, the midfielder appeared to adjust his training bib to point towards the Palace badge.
Meanwhile, the aforementioned newspaper explained that Real Madrid are also in the mix to land Wharton as they are searching for an organiser in the middle of the pitch.
Wharton's name stands out to the La Liga giants, with the one-cap England international said to be liked very much at the Bernabeu Stadium.
The player fits Madrid's criteria in terms of his age and talent, although his price tag could be a problem as Palace won't pick up the phone unless they get an offer above £69million.
Real don't intend to move for Wharton this summer, with the transfer deadline now less than a fortnight away.
And the Spanish club would struggle to convince Palace to cash in on the midfield genius immediately, with Eagles boss Oliver Glasner bemoaning his side's lack of players following their victory over Fredrikstad.
