
Bihar News: Black money has been revealed in the raid of EOU (Economic Offenses Unit) of Vinod Rai, Superintending Engineer of Rural Affairs Department in Bihar. Fearing being caught, the engineer allegedly sat down overnight and burnt 2 to 3 crore rupees notes, despite its team got Rs 39 lakh cash from the house. The EOU has arrested Vinod Rai and his wife for eradicating evidence and obstructing government work. A separate case of corruption will be registered against the engineer.
How did EOU find out?
According to the information, Vinod Rai left for Patna on Thursday night with a stock of notes from Sitamarhi. The EOU got information about this and the team reached their residence in Patna late late. Earlier, the engineer had reached the money home. When the EOU team arrived for Red, the engineer’s wife stood as a wall under the house and said that she is alone in the house. The raid team was forced to wait till morning. Meanwhile, the engineers allegedly kept burning notes overnight in the room above.
Where are the cash recovered from there?
The view of the house was shocking in the morning. Notes were burnt at different places. Rs 39 lakh cash was recovered from the water tank. A huge debris of the notes of about 12 and a half lakh rupees and the bathroom pipes got heavy debris from the house. It is estimated that 2 to 3 crore rupees were destroyed overnight. It is alleged that an attempt was made to burn up to Rs 3950 lakh, yet the entire amount could not be destroyed.
Doubt of property worth crores
In the initial assessment, the engineer is expected to have movable and immovable property worth about Rs 100 crore at the market price. In the raid, 18 deeds of land and property, 15 bank accounts, partnership documents, jewelry worth Rs 26 lakh, insurance policies and investment documents have been found. There is a possibility of investigation by the ED in the case.
Wife admitted to hospital in custody
The EOU arrested Vinod Rai and his wife. During this time, the wife spoke of ill health, after which she was admitted to the hospital in custody.
Vinod Rai is working in Sitamarhi
Vinod Rai is the Superintending Engineer in the Rural Affairs Department, Sitamarhi Division, as well as the charge of Madhubani. The EOU was informed on Thursday night that he was going to residence at Patna, Bhootnath Road with heavy cash. Despite trying to siege on the way, he did not get caught.
EOU outside the house overnight, revealed the secret in the morning
The EOU team stood outside the house after late night’s protest. There was a continuous smell of burning from inside. After entering the house in the morning, there was evidence of burnt notes and sheds in the bathroom. After this, the team of Municipal Corporation and FSL was called on the spot and debris along with burnt notes was captured for forensic investigation.
