Changi Airport in Singapore ranked third in a list of 10 airports most prone to baggage mishaps, according to a study by Arka, a California-based provider of custom shipping packaging.
The analysis looked at two main variables: passenger volume and online searches for “lost and found services.”
To ensure fair comparisons between airports, the search data was adjusted to reflect searches per million passengers that helped identify airports with unusually high levels of interest in lost luggage.
Additionally, regional baggage mishandling rates (measured per 1,000 passengers) were included to offer a wider perspective.
Miami International Airport in the U.S. was named the worst airport for baggage handling, followed by Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
Changi has been voted the world’s best airport 13 times by the London-based aviation consultancy Skytrax and is consistently praised by travelers for its cleanliness, modernity, and efficient immigration procedures.
Last year it was ranked the world’s second best facility for baggage delivery, following Japan’s Osaka Kansai Airport, according to a passenger survey by Skytrax.
Changi saw a total of 67 million passengers per year.
