Complaint Filed Against Jasmin Jaffar
On Saturday, temple officials in Kerala took action by lodging a police complaint against Jasmin Jaffar, a former contestant from Bigg Boss Malayalam and a social media influencer. The complaint stems from her alleged breach of temple rules after she filmed a video at the sacred pond of the Guruvayoor temple.
According to reports, Jaffar shared a video on Instagram showing her washing her feet at the temple pond, an act that is prohibited within the temple's holy premises. The temple authorities emphasized that any filming at the pond requires prior approval.
The pond, known as Rudratheertham, is of great religious importance, particularly as it is used for the ritual bathing of Lord Krishna's idol during temple festivals.
"It is crucial to uphold the sanctity of this area at all times," stated a senior official from the Devaswom, highlighting that photography and videography are not allowed to maintain decorum.
The complaint was officially filed by the Devaswom administrator, who pointed out a rising trend of social media influencers disregarding established protocols at religious sites for content creation.
This incident is not isolated; there have been previous cases where individuals faced backlash for filming within temple grounds. Notably, the Kerala High Court had previously prohibited vloggers from recording in the temple's forecourt.
Earlier this year, a case was also filed against singer Aloshi Adams and members of a temple advisory committee for performing songs that praised the ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist during a temple festival in Kollam.
