Mumbai: After Instagram, veteran actress Saira Banu now has an account on X (formerly Twitter) also.

Saira, who turned a year older on August 23, marked her 81^st birthday by reliving sweet memories with her late husband, Bollywood legend Dilip Kumar on X.

In her first post on X, Saira shared, “Today, as I step into another year, I wish to be here with all of you, to talk about Life, to relive Memories and everything that keeps Dilip Sahib close to our hearts.”

In a monochrome picture, a young Saira was seen cutting a two-tiered cake.

Meanwhile, Saira also posted memories with Dilip on her Instagram handle.

In one picture, she is seen shaking hands with him.

In another picture, she is seen surrounded by her loved ones.

She also shared a video in which Dilip was heard whistling as she cuts a cake, with singer Lata Mangeshkar standing by their side.

Along with the pictures, she wrote, “My birthday has always been such a day, not a moment for revelry alone, but it touches every thought and being that has shaped me into the person I am today.”

While remembering her husband, she wrote, “Yet life, in its true sense, had one more extraordinary gift awaiting me. What began as admiration for an artist admired from afar was, by the tender hand of destiny, transformed into a companionship most rare.”

She added, “The decision to make my home near his was at the time but a matter of circumstance; little did I suspect it to be providence, gently steering my heart toward him. That a man so revered by the world could look upon me with kindness, and in time with love, remains the greatest wonder of my life.”

“This day, therefore, is not merely a celebration of age, but of love that endures, of memories that soften the edges of time, and of a bond that remains my life’s most cherished story,” she concluded her note by thanking everyone who wished her on her birthday.

Saira Banu, who was one of the leading Bollywood stars in the 60s, married Dilip Kumar on October 11, 1966.

She was just 22 when she married 44-year-old Dilip. Dilip passed away at the age of 98 in 2021.
