Punjab Ration Card News: In the country, on the one hand, inflation and unemployment are constantly breaking the back of the people, on the other hand, due to the new policy of the central government, millions of poor people of Punjab are being denied their rights. Out of a total of 1.53 crore ration card holders in Punjab, 55 lakh needy people are being planned to stop free ration. Surprisingly, the ration of 23 lakh of these people has been closed since July without any prior notice. Now after 30 September, preparations are being made to stop the ration of 32 lakh more people and the reason for this is that their EKYC has not been updated.
Technical excuse, but no help
The central government is claiming that the reason for stopping the ration is technical, but the poor were neither given time nor aid, nor any major awareness campaign. This situation shows that the government is not taking the problems of the poor seriously. It is inhuman to expect the online process from those who do not have the facility of smartphone or internet.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann gives a tough challenge
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has openly opposed this decision. He has written a letter to the central government and sought six months time so that the EKYC of all the needy can be completed. At the same time, he has instructed the administration that the officers should get EKYC from house to house, so that no poor is deprived of their rights. He also made it clear that as long as he is the Chief Minister, the ration card of any poor will not be allowed to be canceled.
Not a ration, it is the right of the poor
The Aam Aadmi Party government believes that ration is not only a government scheme, but it is the constitutional and moral right of the poor. This attitude of the central government is not only insensitive, but it is also against the basic spirit of social justice. Forcing millions of people to sleep hungry by making technical reasons an excuse, it does not suit any democratic government.
Battle of dignity of the poor
This is not just the process of ration card or EKYC, but the dignity of the poor, his life and humanity. The Punjab government of the Aam Aadmi Party has made it clear that it will stand with the poor in this battle – without fear, without pressure and complete strength.
