In Aligarh, a major action has been taken to demolish two illegal tombs built on railway land. The incident took place on Shahkamal Road in the Gandhipark police station area of the city, where the railway team demolished these mausoleums in the presence of a heavy police force. This action created a stir in the entire area. Railways say that these tombs were made illegally and were interrupting their construction work.
History and encroachment of tombs
Two small tombs were built on railway land on Shahkamal Road several years ago. Gradually, religious activities started on these tombs and the locals started coming and going there. Over time, these mausoleums were given the form of a confirmed structure. The Railways issued notice several times and warned to remove them, but had no effect. Eventually, the railway and administration took strict measures and decided to demolish these tombs.
Tight security during action
As soon as the demolition action started, there was an atmosphere of tension in the area. People started discussing this action. But the Police and Railway Protection Force (RPF) kept the situation completely under control. Heavy police force and RPF-GRP personnel were present on the spot, so that there is no untoward incident. With the help of laborers, both the mausoleums were completely demolished.
Railway said, why action was necessary
Aligarh SSP Sanjeev Suman gave the reason for this action. He said, “Railways are working to build a boundary wall on both sides of the track on their land. Whatever illegal occupation or encroachment is coming out during this period, two illegal tombs on Shahkamal Road have been demolished under this. Railway officials also made it clear that illegal structures would not be tolerated under any circumstances, as they affect the safety and construction work of the railway.
Strong police strategy
The administration had already made complete preparations to carry out this action. In view of the possibility of any protest, a police force was called from the Gandipark police station area as well as nearby police stations. Senior officials of RPF and GRP were present on the spot and monitored the action. Now with the vacancy of railway land, cleanliness and security situation in the area will be better.
