BCCI scrambles for a new sponsor after Dream11’s exit ahead of Asia Cup 2025, with Jio, Toyota and others showing early interest.
Just days before the Asia Cup 2025, the Indian cricket team has been left without a title sponsor. Dream11 pulled out of its deal with the BCCI after the Indian Parliament passed the ‘Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025’, which bans real-money gaming platforms.
With the Asia Cup starting on September 9 in the UAE, the timing of this decision has put the BCCI under pressure to find a new lead sponsor quickly.
Big Names Show Interest
According to sources, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, Toyota Motor Corporation, and a fintech start-up have already expressed interest. However, the official tendering process is yet to begin. The BCCI expects the new deal to be more lucrative than the ₹358 crore contract signed with Dream11 in 2023.
That earlier agreement paid ₹3 crore per home game and ₹1 crore per away match.
BCCI’s Stand on New Law
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia recently made it clear that the board will follow government policy.
“If it’s not permissible, we’ll not do anything. The BCCI will follow every policy framed by the central government,” Saikia said on Friday.
Jerseys Without a Sponsor?
If no deal is finalized in time, India may have to play the Asia Cup without a lead sponsor logo on their jerseys. Interestingly, jerseys with Dream11 branding had already been printed but will not be used.
Asia Cup Preparations
The Asia Cup begins on September 9 with matches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The final is scheduled for September 28. India has already announced a 15-member squad, with Suryakumar Yadav as captain and Shubman Gill as his deputy.
The sudden exit of Dream11 has created uncertainty, but with major companies in the mix, the BCCI remains confident of striking a new deal soon.
