
This year the monsoon not only reached India before time but it is also raining more than normal.
For the last several days, heavy rains and cloudbursts have been continuing in Himachal, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir. This is the reason why this hill state is battling floods. At the same time, flood water is wreaking havoc in many districts of Punjab and UP. Seven districts in Punjab have been completely hit by floods. Due to this, lakhs of acres of crops have been destroyed. Flood water is also wreaking havoc in residential areas. Due to which people are losing their lives and property.
The flood situation has worsened due to continuous rain in many parts of Rajasthan, Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal. Roads have been washed away at many places. Bridges have collapsed. Five teenagers and two teachers in Rajasthan and two people in Himachal Pradesh died in rain- accidents. The situation is serious in Dausa, Sawaimadhopur, Kota, Bundi of Rajasthan. Many areas of Jaipur are also submerged in water. For rescue operations in Kota and Bundi, Air Force’s MI 17 helicopters along with army personnel had to be deployed.
Heavy to very heavy rain warning in many states
Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in many states for Monday, August 25. The IMD has warned of heavy rains and thunderstorms in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and hilly states for the next 24 hours. According to the Meteorological Department, the effect of monsoon will intensify due to the new low-pressure system forming in the Bay of Bengal and active cyclonic activity in West India. Experts say that as a result, the intensity of rain will be at its peak in many states (especially hilly and coastal) for the next two-three days

Schools closed in three districts of Uttarakhand
There have been many incidents of cloudburst in Uttarakhand. The weather department has issued an alert for heavy rain for today as well. In view of this, due to the weather forecast, the District Magistrate has declared holiday from 1st to 12th in Dehradun, Uttarkashi and Chamoli districts and in Anganwadi centers.
An orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain has been issued in some areas of Tehri, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Nainital including Dehradun.
Rain broke records in Jammu and Kashmir
On Sunday, 190.4 mm of rain was recorded in Jammu in 24 hours. Such rain occurred after three decades. Earlier, 218.4 mm of rain had occurred on August 23, 1996. Many houses built on the banks of Tawi river in Nikki Tawi area in Jammu were damaged. Water entered the houses. Roads caved in. Roads were blocked due to falling of trees. Rivers and streams are in spate due to heavy rains. Traffic on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway was stopped due to damage to the bridge built on Sahar Khad river in Kathua. The ground floor of IIIM hostel in Jammu was filled with water up to seven feet. The rescue team rescued 100 students after 5 hours of hard work. Boats had to be used for rescue.
