India US tariff war: On Sunday, US Vice President JD Vance said that President Donald Trump has taken strict economic steps to stop Russia’s attack on Ukraine. It also includes the decision to impose secondary tariff on India.
In NBC News Program Meat the Press, Vance said that the aim of these steps is to reduce Russia’s oil -based income, so that it does not extend the war forward. He also expressed confidence that despite the possible challenges after the meeting of Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin recently, the US may still play an effective intermediary in ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Russian oil injuries hurt
If America is not imposing a new ban, then how will the pressure be put on Russia? How will Russia be brought to a conversation table with Zelansky and how to prevent attacks? On this question, Vance said that Trump adopted a strategy to create strict economic pressure on Russia.
For example, additional tariffs were imposed on India to hurt Russia’s oil income. He said that Trump wanted to give the message that if the Russia stops the attack, it could get a chance to return to the global economy, but if the attacks continue, it would have to be isolated from the world.
No objection to China
The Trump administration continued to criticize India that it is buying crude oil from Russia at cheap rates. Surprisingly, Washington did not object to the most oil importing China from Russia. India argues that its energy purchase, whether from Russia or from any other country, is completely based on national interests and market conditions.
The Trump administration has increased tariffs on Indian goods to 50% and has also imposed an additional 25% fee on the purchase of India’s Russian crude oil. Following this decision, tension has increased in the relationship between New Delhi and Washington. The US alleges that India’s Russian oil procurement is providing financial assistance to Moscow for the Ukraine War, while India has strictly rejected these allegations.
Questions about business
Foreign Minister S.K. at an event in New Delhi on Saturday Jaishankar said that it is ironic that the US administration who calls itself a supporter of business raises questions about business on others. He gave a clear warning that if anyone objected to buying oil or refined products from India, he should not buy. There is no compulsion. But the truth is that both Europe and America shop from India. So if it is not accepted by anyone, do not buy.
