Veteran actress Atiqa Odho recently made a playful remark about actor Danish Taimoor, suggesting that if she can’t play his heroine, she’d be happy to play his “wretched mother” instead. The light-hearted comment came during her appearance on the talk show “Kya Drama Hai”where she was joined by fellow actresses Nadia Khan and Marina Khan.
The conversation took a humorous turn as the trio discussed Danish Taimoor’s performance in the drama serial “Sher”. Atiqa Odho, while praising his looks and acting skills, joked that generation after generation seems to be falling for his charm — including her own mother, who is apparently a big fan of the actor.
Marina Khan proposed a hypothetical drama idea in which a younger man, like Danish Taimoor, falls in love with an older woman, played by Atiqa Odho. Laughing at the idea, Atiqa agreed, saying that such a story could definitely be told. However, Nadia Khan and Marina Khan both pointed out that if such a drama were made, it would likely stir controversy, with audiences criticizing the older actress for romancing a younger man.
Atiqa responded to the discussion with a tongue-in-cheek remark: “If I can’t be his heroine, at least give me the role of his wretched mother!”
When the host asked if she truly wished to star opposite Danish Taimoor as his leading lady, Atiqa confirmed that she would love to — but if that couldn’t happen, she’d settle for playing his mother, even if it’s a tragic role.
The segment, though humorous, also highlighted societal taboos and double standards in the entertainment industry regarding age and casting.
