
Fatal Accident Involving Pilgrims
In a tragic incident in Bulandshahr district, a truck collided with a tractor-trolley carrying pilgrims, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals, including two children, and leaving 43 others injured. This information was confirmed by a senior police official.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dinesh Kumar Singh, the accident occurred shortly after 2 AM on Sunday near the Arnia bypass at the Bulandshahr-Aligarh border. A container truck struck the tractor-trolley from behind, causing it to overturn.
Singh reported that the tractor-trolley was transporting 61 people who were on their way to a pilgrimage in Jaharpeer, Rajasthan, from Rafatpur village in Kasganj district.
Victims and Medical Response
The injured were taken to various hospitals, including a private facility. The SSP stated, "Eight individuals have lost their lives, and 43 are currently receiving treatment. Three of the injured are on ventilators."
Authorities noted that ten passengers sustained minor injuries. The injured were admitted to Aligarh Medical College, Bulandshahr District Hospital, and Kailash Hospital in Khurja, with 10, 10, and 23 patients respectively.
The deceased have been identified, all hailing from Kasganj district, and their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
Official Visits and Legal Action
District Magistrate Shruti, along with SSP Singh and other senior officials, visited the accident site and later checked on the injured at the hospital. Police confirmed that the truck, registered in Haryana, has been seized, and legal proceedings are underway.
The identified victims include tractor driver EU Babu (40), Rambeti (65), Chandni (12), Ghaniram (40), Mokshi (40), Shivansh (6), Yogesh (50), and Vinod (45), all residents of Kasganj district. Among the injured, 12 are under the age of 18.
The District Magistrate conducted a site inspection amid light rain and later inquired about the well-being of the hospitalized patients.
Government Response
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has acknowledged the road accident in Bulandshahr, expressing condolences to the bereaved families. He has instructed officials to provide immediate relief and ensure proper medical care for the injured, wishing for their swift recovery.
