
Mirabai Chanu Wins Gold: After staying away from weightlifting for more than a year, India’s star weightlifter Meerabai Chanu has made a comeback. He has won the gold medal in the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship 2025 held in Ahmedabad from Monday. Meerabai has won gold in the 48 kg weight category.

Former Olympic medal winner Meerabai missed the podium in Paris. After which he first lifted a weight of 84 pounds (s) + 109 pounds (CJ) = 193 pounds (total 193 pounds) in the 48 kg weight category, in which he has won gold medals in the World and Commonwealth Games. In addition, Payal and Soumya have won the gold medal with a Commonwealth record in the youth and junior category in the 48 kg weight category.
In the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship 2025, Payal loaded 166 kg (73+93). Bhavani Reddy has won the silver medal by lifting 158 kg weight.
In the junior category, Soumya loaded 177 kg (76+101). Earlier, Dharmajyoti has won the gold medal in the men’s 56 kg weight category in the youth. Dharmajyoti loaded 224 kg (97+127).
