Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 Date
The eagerly anticipated festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is just around the corner, with preparations underway to celebrate the birth of Lord Ganesha. Known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, this Hindu festival sees the establishment of elaborate pandals featuring grand idols of the deity. Sweet shops are bustling with a variety of traditional treats, including modaks, barfis, and laddoos.
Devotees honor the occasion by placing Lord Ganesha's idols in their homes and in public pandals. The festivities include chanting Vedic hymns, prayers, and observing vrata (fasting). After daily prayers, offerings and prasada are shared with the community from the pandal.
Rituals and Conclusion of the Festival
The celebration culminates on the tenth day, when the idol is taken in a vibrant procession accompanied by music and group chants, ultimately leading to its immersion in a nearby water body, such as a river or the sea. This ritual, known as visarjana, takes place on Ananta Chaturdashi.
