Dream11: The relationship between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the popular fantasy gaming company Dream 11 is now on the verge of ending. This change has come to light after the passage of online gaming promotion and regulation bill, 2025 by Parliament. After the implementation of this bill, the BCCI has made it clear that they will not have a relationship with any organization in future which is to online money gaming.

Online gaming bill 2025

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has clearly stated that it is impossible to maintain a relationship with Dream 11 due to the implementation of the bill. Saikia said in a conversation with the media, "Given this situation and after the bill is enacted, it has become difficult for us to have a relationship with Dream 11. Therefore, we have abolished this partnership and are working on future strategies, which will also include a new sponsor."

Dream 11 and BCCI commercial relations

Dream 11 and Mai 11 circles are among the Indian cricket team and the top sponsors of the Indian Premier League (IPL). These companies provide sponsorship of about Rs 1,000 crore to BCCI. In particular, Dream 11 signed a title sponsor of 44 million US dollars, or about Rs 358 crore for Team India for 2023-2026. Apart from this, Dream is also an official fantasy partner of the Dream 11 Indian Super League (ISL).

Provision of online gaming bill

This bill clearly states that no person or company will be involved in serving, encouraging or promoting online money gaming. This means that fantasy sports companies will get a big ban on their promotion and business models in India. This will cause huge losses to the revenue sources of sponsors associated with online gaming.

Dream 11 legal rights

Dream 11 will not have to pay any penalty despite this situation as their contract involves provision that provides protection to the company in case of government ban. This means that Dream 11 will not demand any additional payment from the BCCI during the remaining period of the contract.

Dream 11 statement and direction of future

After passing the bill of Parliament, Dream 11 issued a statement saying, ” "We have always been a law following the law and will do the same further. Although we believe that progressive law is the path of development, but we will respect the new bill and follow it completely."

Impact on individual cricketers

The implementation of this bill will not only affect the relationship between BCCI and Dream 11, but is also expected to have a big impact on the support of fantasy gaming apps by individual cricket players. The ban on such sponsorship and promotion can limit new advertising opportunities for players.
