In this rising inflation, raising a child has also become equal to buying a house. In such a situation, the question has become common whether we should raise children or think of buying a house? This is not a minor matter, but a major financial decision. Recently a LinkedIn Post has caught the attention of many people on this issue.
A linkedin user wrote in one of his posts, 'In 1995 you could raise a child and also buy a house. In 2025 you can do only one thing. Choose thoughtfully. This thing is directly related to the reality of our pocket and life.
How heavy the cost of raising children?
Earlier, buying children and buying houses were two different things, but now the cost of raising children has increased so much that it has almost become equal to the price of a house. Appropriate NBT reports, cities today cost about 45 lakh rupees to raise a child. This is not a small amount, but a middle class family is equal to about 10 years of earnings.
This expenditure includes school fees, coaching class, hobby class, healthcare, dress, toys and more. Especially in the cities, the fees of private schools are from 2 to 4 lakh rupees annually, and about 17 lakh rupees are spent only on the school at the age of 6 to 17 years. Apart from this, the cost of the college is spent separately. The expenditure on medicine is increasing at a rate of 14% every year. On the other hand, if the child is kept in a day care, then his expenditure is spent from 15,000 to 20,000 rupees. Extra activities also cost from 25,000 to 50,000.
It is necessary to balance between love and responsibility
On Linkedin, a user said that 'this conversation forces our values and priorities to think again'. Overall, the education of children, their hobby, health care costs can go up to 45 lakhs, then if you add the expenses of marriage, then this figure can reach 80 lakh rupees. All these expenses put the financial condition of the family under pressure.
But this does not mean that the children leave the cradle, but it means that there will be a balance between love and responsibility. Many times we get stuck in the race to improve for our children than others, while in reality it is necessary to teach children the necessary skills of life like saving, spending wisely and to become self -sufficient so that we can reduce this pressure and balance somewhere.
