Material (Ganesh Chaturthi Special, Sabudana Modak Recipe)
Exterior
- Sago (small grain) – 1 cup
- Water – 2 cups (to get wet)
- Rock salt – as per taste
- Ghee – 1 tablespoon
Filling for stuffing
- Fresh coconut (grated) – 1 cup
- Jaggery (grated) – ½ cup
- Cardamom Powder – ½ tsp
- Ghee – 1 tsp
- Dry fruits (finely chopped almonds, cashews, raisins) – 2 tablespoons

Method (Ganesh Chaturthi Special, Sabudana Modak Recipe)
1- First wash the sago thoroughly and soak it in water for 4-5 hours or overnight. Remove excess water and mash the sago lightly.

2- Heat 1 tsp ghee in a pan. Add coconut and jaggery to it. When jaggery starts melting, add cardamom powder and dry fruits. If the mixture starts getting tied slightly, then turn off the gas and let it cool.
3- Mix the soaked sago with 1 tablespoon of ghee and a little rock salt and fry on a light flame for 5-7 minutes, until it becomes a little sticky flour. Remove from the heat and let it cool down.
4- Apply ghee on the palm. Take a little sago mixture and spread it by hand and give a bowl -like shape. Fill 1 tsp stuffing in it and close it in a shape of modak. (If you want, you can also use modak mold.)
5- Boil water in a steamer and steam the modak on medium flame for 8-10 minutes. When Modak starts appearing from transparent, then understand that they are ready.
6- Serve these sago modaks with a drop of ghee. During fasting, they provide taste as well as energy.
