The Oakland Raiders gave way for wide-receiver Amari Cooper to the Dallas Cowboys on October 22, 2018. The Raiders, who are now in Las Vegas, retrieved him on Monday.
Cooper has agreed to a one-year deal with the Raiders, according to reports from ESPN, NFL Network, and the Las Vegas Review-Journal. He was earlier a free agent.
Reports of Cooper's signing surfaced when wide receiver Jakobi Meyers asked Las Vegas to move him due to stalled contract discussions, even though the Raiders had not made the agreement official.
Meyers had 87 receptions for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns last season, which put him ahead of the other wide receivers for the Raiders. He, Tre Tucker, and Dont'e Thornton Jr. are at the top of the Las Vegas depth chart at the position.
Both Tucker and Thornton have impressive records with Tucker, a professional, who made 47 receptions for a total of 539 yards, and completed three touchdowns in 2024.
Thornton, a rookie, was still selected in the fourth round.
Buffalo Bills also was a space for Cooper, but slowly shifted to the Cleveland Browns, after completing six games of his season in 2024.
He has four touchdowns, 547 yards, and an ample 44 receptions.
After playing an extra eight-season games for the Bills, furthering his three postseason games with the Bills, he had already caught a total of six passes for 41 yards.
Cooper was selected in the 2015 NFL Draft in the fourth spot, and made an SEC single-season record of 124 receptions for Alabama in 2014.
He made it to the Pro Bowl after scoring 155 receptions for a span of 2,223 yards, and making two touchdowns in his first two seasons in Oakland.
The Raiders laid him back to the other team when his output reduced, making him settle for a lowly 22 grabs for 280 yards and having one touchdown overall in his six games, for the Dallas Cowboys. His output had already declined from 48 receptions for 680 yards in the 2019 NFL Draft, and made seven touchdowns in 2017.
The Cowboys’ fifth-and sixth round picks, which included Cooper and another sixth round pick, were in the 2022 NFL Draft on March 11, 2022.
Cooper received nominations to Pro Bowl in 2018 and 2019 and has added 1000-yard receiving seasons in 2018,2019,2020,2022, and 2023 in his first two seasons after leaving the Raiders.
