AJ Auxerre are keen to sign Strasbourg striker Sekou Mara (23) on loan, according to a report from The team. The Yonne side is expected to part ways with Lassine Sinayoko. The Malian striker, who has scored two goals in as many Ligue 1 games, is set to join RC Lens after the Artois side reached an agreement in principle with Auxerre, although the move is in jeopardy.
Losing Sinayoko would be a considerable blow for Christophe Pélissier’s Auxerre. AJA are therefore scouring the market for his replacement. The latter could be Mara. The former Southampton centre-forward is playing second fiddle at RC Strasbourg on the back of his €12m move from the Saints last year.
Mara only logged three goals in 27 games played in all competitions for the Alsatians. The team adds that Auxerre would be interested in a loan with an option to buy for Mara, who is under contract with RCSA until 2029.
