Team India will begin their quest to defend their title when the Asia Cup 2025 kicks off in UAE on September 9. The Indian cricket team had won the Asia Cup 2023 when the tournament was played in the ODI format a couple of years back. Former India opener Virender Sehwag shared his thoughts about Team India’s chances the Indian squad and more. Sehwag declared that India are the best team in the Asia Cup 2025 tournament. “We are world champions. I’m sure that under his captaincy we will do well because we’ve seen in the past when Sky has taken over we won lot of T20 games and Im sure that we will win Asia Cup also” he said. The former India opener has notched up 8273 runs in his 251-match ODI career. He had a brilliant record in Asia Cup (ODI) as well scoring 509 runs in 13 matches with a strike-rate of 113.87 with 1 century and 3 fifties. “I think in the T20 format this Asia Cup can serve as a great preparation for our 2026 T20 World Cup. It’s an opportunity to see which new players should be given chances and who can be included in the squad. You can start building a team for the World Cup. In my opinion there is no better opportunity for the Indian team to check its strength than the Asia Cup” Sehwag said about the Asia Cup.
