New Delhi: A big change is going to be seen in the economy of Indian cricket. The government has recently passed the Online Gaming (Regulation and Restriction) Act 2025 under which real money gaming has been banned. Due to the impact of this decision many big sponsorship agreements related to cricket are on the verge of breaking. BCCI and Dream11 part ways Due to this new law BCCI has also taken a big decision and ended its partnership with Dream11. Let us tell you that the logo of Dream11 was seen as the main sponsor on the Indian teams jersey. This three-year agreement was worth Rs 358 crore and was to run till 2026. But now Team India will play the Asia Cup 2025 without any jersey sponsor or with a new sponsor. Cloud of crisis on IPL too Not only the Indian team but the Indian Premier League (IPL) has also been affected by this law. IPL has a deal of Rs 125 crore with My11 Circle but after the implementation of the new rules this deal has also come under threat. Virat Rohit and Dhoni will suffer a big loss The biggest impact of this decision is going to be on the personal income of the players. According to the report of Cricbuzz Indian cricketers may collectively lose around Rs 150 to Rs 200 crore. This includes many big names. Virat Kohlis contract with Mobile Premier League (MPL) was around Rs 10–12 crore while Rohit Sharma and Mahendra Singh Dhoni are also not untouched by this blow. Rohit had a contract with Dream11 and Dhoni with Winzo which is valued between Rs 6–7 crore. In this way the personal earnings of the players are bound to be deeply affected. This will also affect the total net worth of Virat Kohli Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni. Impact on the earnings of other players Players like Jasprit Bumrah Hardik Pandya KL Rahul Rishabh Pant Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal also have contracts with real money gaming companies. The report also revealed that these deals used to bring 5–10% of the players total income but for some players this share used to reach 50–100%. Mohammed Siraj is a big example of this whose earnings will be directly affected by this. Story Highlights The government banned real money gaming by passing the Online Gaming Act 2025. BCCI ended the deal of Rs 358 crore with Dream11 midway. IPLs Rs 125 crore deal with My11 Circle is also in trouble. Many players including Virat Rohit and Dhoni have suffered losses of up to Rs 150–200 crore.
