
Bhubaneswar: Odisha is shining at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships 2025 in Ahmedabad.
Talented teenager Mina Santa brought glory to the state and country by clinching gold medal in the Junior Women’s 58 kg category on Tuesday.
The 18-year-old Mina, who is from Umarkote in Nabarangpur district, trains at Bhubaneswar’s Odisha Weightlifting High Performance Centre, Bhubaneswar.
Earlier in the day, Odisha’s Sneha Soren bagged silver medal in Women’s 53 kg category.
The 24-year-old Sneha, from Sikharghati in Mayurbhanj district, lifted a total of 185 kg – snatch 80 kg and clean and jerk 105 kg – to finish second on the podium.
On Monday, Odisha’s up-and-coming Preetismita Bhoi topped the 44 kg event to win India’s first gold of the Commonwealth championships being held at Ahmedabad’s Naranpura Sports Complex.
