Google Developer Verification: Google Has announced an important step to take in mind the safety of users. Till now Android users had the facility to download the app from any source, which made Google different from Apple. But this facility is going to change now. The company has confirmed that the new rule will be implemented from next year, after which users will not be able to install the apps of universified developers.

Google will make developer verification mandatory

Google is now going to launch the developer verification program. Under this program, every Android developer will have to verify its identity. Developers will be allowed to install the app on certified Android devices only after the verification is completed.

If a developer does not participate in the verification process, he will not be able to prepare or offer apps for Google devices. Currently, this system is limited to listing the app only on the Play Store, but will also verify the Google third-party developers later. That is, the developers who offer the app on other sources besides Play Store will also have to go through this process.

Which phones will apply to this rule?

Google’s new rule will apply to all smartphones in which Google pre-installed services are present. At the same time, devices in which Google services are not available will be outside the purview of this rule.

When will the verification system start?

Google has informed that an Android developers console is being prepared for this program, where developers will be able to get their verification done.

  • Its testing will begin from October.
  • From March 2026, Android console will be made available for developers.
  • It will begin in September 2026 from Brazil, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.
  • By 2027, this program will be implemented all over the world.

Note

This step of Google is a major change in the direction of making Android ecosystem more secure. “Users will now only get only verified and safe apps, which will reduce the risk of fraud apps and data theft to a great extent.”
