This week, GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes paused to pay tribute to a cherished companion in his life, his dog Maggie.
The 65-year-old, who recently issued an apology after uttering a racial slur live on air, posted a photograph of his adored pet on Instagram.
Maggie, whom he rescued alongside former wife Ruth Langsford in 2011, appears in the snapshot leaping up in the rear of a vehicle.
Eamonn shared the picture of his 17-year old Border Collie to mark International Dog Day. He wrote alongside the post: "Today is #internationalDogDay And this is Maggie. I love u, Mags x".
"She changed my life and gave me unconditional love. My Bestie xxx"
It didn't take long for followers to respond to the touching homage to his treasured companion, with numerous people emphasising the vital role dogs play in our lives, reportsBelfast Live.
One individual commented: "Most beautiful photo of Maggie. Animals are the most amazing gift a human can have and can totally turn your life from night to day."
Another user penned: "Such a beautiful photo of Maggie."
Whilst one supporter noted: "Thank you for giving a rescue dog a chance and a loving home."
A further admirer remarked: "Dogs are the best."

With someone else posting: "Unconditional love, they come into our lives and we can't live without them."
One person declared: "Maggie is adorable and what a wonderful life you both have given her."
Meanwhile another contributed: "What a beautiful photo of her Eamonn."
Eamonn's heartfelt tribute comes just weeks after the former This Morning presenter encouraged people to consider rescuing a dog, a decision he made over a decade ago.

He candidly admitted that Ruth handles all the 'hard stuff' with Maggie due to his wheelchair limitations, but Eamonn is determined to improve in hopes of adopting another dog in the future.
In a separate post featuring his cherished pet, Eamonn shared with his followers that Maggie brings back memories of his late mother.
He quipped: "A really bad knee and hardly any teeth left [sic], but not bad for a 17-year-old!"
People can watch Eamonn on his Breakfast show with his co-star Ellie Costello weekdays on GB News from 6am
