K-Pop Demon Hunters tops Netflix charts, conversation on sequel continues

Netflix’s animated sensation K-Pop Demon Hunters has become the most viewed film on this platform so far. It has been viewed 23.6 million times since the premiere on June 20, 2025, which has crossed 23.09 crore views of the red notice. The film has surpassed other top titles of Netflix like Carrie-on, Dont Look Up and The Adam Project. Its Sing-Along version also finished number 1 at the US box office, earning an estimated $ 18–20 million during its release in limited cinemas on August 23-24, 2025, the first theater success of Netflix.

The film is based on Hunter/X, Ek K-Pop Girl Group-Rumum (Arden Cho), Meera (M Hong) and Zoi (G-Yang You)-who plays a demon as a hunter and fights with a rival Boy Band, Saja Boys, who is secretly led by a horrific power (Li Bug-Hun). Directed by Maggi Kang and Chris Apelhans, Sony Pictures Animation Productions has a mixture of vibrant scenes, attractive music and subjects of friendship and self-kings, which has earned a 97% rating on Rotton Tomatos. Its soundtrack, which includes hit songs such as “Golden”, dominates the chart with four songs in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.

With its global success, Netflix and Sony are initial interactions for a sequel. More than 1,300 theater sold for the sing-along screening, which reflects its huge fan base. As the conversation is moving forward, the goal of the sequel is to maintain the new story of the origin, as well as the possibility of a TV series, stage musical or live-action conversion.

The K-Pop Demon Hunters continue to stream on Netflix, and its Sing-Along version is now available, which further strengthens its position as a cultural veteran.
