Indias ambitious bullet train program is moving forward quickly. The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has initiated steps to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Delhi-Varanasi High-Speed Rail Corridor. To assist with the ground surveys NHSRCL has implemented a modern method of LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology reported Jagran. Why is LiDAR technology being used for this bullet train project? According to the Jagran report Officials stated that LiDAR technology enables aerial surveys to precisely map elevations structures vegetation and other geographical features resulting in a more accurate and reliable Detailed Project Report (DPR). High-speed rail projects are also utilizing this technology to achieve speed and transparency in construction planning and design. The Delhi–Varanasi High-Speed Rail Corridor is one of eight proposed high-speed rail network projects in India. The report further mentioned that the corridor will be approximately 865 kilometers long and will connect New Delhi to the city of Varanasi (via Mathura Agra Etawah Lucknow Raebareli Prayagraj and Bhadohi). The bullet train will pass through approximately 60 villages in Raebareli alone all of which have been identified for the route. What is the total length of the Delhi-Varanasi bullet train corridor? When completed the high-speed rail corridor will cut the total travel time from Delhi to Varanasi down to 4 to 4.5 hours compared to current travel times of 8 to 10 hours by train or road. In addition to assisting tourism and trade along this new corridor the rail will also generate employment and private and public sector investment opportunities in multiple districts along its path. Villages in Salon Tehsil: Mirjahapur Kamalpur Domapur Kodari etc. According to the Jagran report Sadar Tehsildar Akriti Srivastava stated that the Speed Rail Corporation Limited (SRCL) has begun its work surveying along with the local Lekhpals (revenue officers). It will take several months to complete the survey reports. Thereafter they will go through land acquisition design and construction.
