Impact of Heavy Rains on Telecom Services

On Tuesday, Jammu and Kashmir experienced significant rainfall, leading to damage in optical fiber networks across various regions. This disruption has impacted the services of all telecom providers. Technical teams have been dispatched to assess and rectify the issues. Officials indicated that the fiber cuts in multiple locations have halted call services and resulted in the suspension of mobile internet.

The state-run telecom operator BSNL has also reported interruptions in its fiber and landline services. This network failure has caused considerable inconvenience for residents, as many have been unable to receive mobile signals. Telecom companies have stated that the outages are due to fiber damage in areas including Jammu, Srinagar, and Shimla, and they are working diligently to restore services promptly.

Users on Downdetector have reported internet outages affecting major telecom operators such as Jio, Vodafone, and Airtel. One user reached out to authorities on social media, expressing frustration: "I can't reach my family in Jammu and Kashmir. My SIM card isn't working. What's going on?"

Another user remained optimistic, stating, "Hopefully, the network issues in Jammu will be resolved soon." Meanwhile, a third user voiced concern, saying, "I've lost contact with my family in Jammu. It appears the network has gone down in many parts of the state. Praying for #Jammu."
