Dal is an important part of everyday Indian cuisine. Often people cook lentils in a pressure cooker quickly, but many times it happens that no matter how much whistles are played, the lentils are neither soft nor cooked. In such a situation, cooking seems difficult and time taking time. Actually, there are many small reasons behind this, such as the method of soaking lentils, the water temperature or the proper use of spices.
Soak lentils: Soak the lentils in water for at least 30 to 40 minutes before cooking. This softens the lentils and cooks quickly in the cooker.
Use hot water: If the lentils do not cook quickly, add hot water instead of cold water. Hot water helps soften the lentils quickly.
Then add salt: Many people add salt in the beginning while cooking lentils. This makes the lentils hard and does not cook quickly. Add salt only after cooking lentils.
Add turmeric and oil: While cooking the lentils, add some turmeric and a teaspoon of oil. This cooks the lentils quickly and its taste also increases.
Magic of baking soda: If the lentils are very strict, add a pinch of baking soda to it. This immediately softens the lentils.
Close the cooker lid properly: Sometimes the pressure of the cooker is not made properly. The lid and whistle should be applied properly, only then the lentils will cook well.
Avoid old lentils: Very old lentils take more time to cook. Try to use fresh lentils, so that they cook quickly and are tasty.
