If you're interested in preparing caramel makhanas at home, this simple recipe will surely impress everyone who tries them, making them a frequent request. This sweet dish is perfect for those moments when you're craving something unique and sugary.

Ingredients Needed
2 cups makhana
1 tsp oil or ghee
1/3 cup solid jaggery, finely chopped
2-3 tbsp water
1 tbsp roasted sesame seeds
1 pinch of salt
Instructions to Prepare
- Heat oil in a pan and add the makhana. Roast them for about 4-5 minutes, then set aside to cool.
- Allowing them to cool will enhance their crispiness. In the same pan, combine jaggery and water, and melt the jaggery over low heat.
- Once bubbles begin to form in the jaggery mixture, it's time to test for caramelization.
- To check, drop a few drops of the mixture into a cup of ice water. If it forms solid strings, turn off the heat immediately.
- Finally, mix in the sesame seeds and the roasted makhana with the jaggery. Spread the mixture on parchment paper and let it cool for 20 minutes before enjoying.
